Shirrey H. Devinney, 79, of Etowah, NC passed away Tuesday, September 28, 2021, at Elizabeth House after a short illness. She is the daughter of the late William Franklin Huntley and the late Florence Emory and was preceded in death by Richard, her husband of 53 years, a daughter, Saprina Melinda Devinney and a brother, Ronnie.
She was a member of Fletcher First Baptist Church and previously of the Hendersonville First Church of the Nazarene.
She had many jobs over the years but loved baking and decorating cakes, especially for weddings as well as birthdays and other celebrations. She also loved painting figurines, crocheting and making birthday and special event cards for family, friends and fellow church members. She loved helping people whenever possible, such as providing transportation to friends in need.
She is survived by her son, Bryan Devinney and his wife Sandy of Pickens, SC, sister-in-law Linda W. Huntley of Fletcher, a niece, Kim Banks and husband Tim and nephews Steve Huntley and wife Beverly and Stan Huntley and wife Vivian, as well as numerous cousins.
Due to safety considerations, there will be no public visitation, however, there will be a private viewing prior to burial. A graveside service will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, Oct 2, 2021, at Forest Lawn Cemetery, 538 Tracey Grove Rd. Hendersonville, N.C. Friends and family are invited to attend. The Rev. Roy Waldroup will officiate.
