Joseph B. “Joe” Whitaker, age 78, of Flat Rock, NC died at his residence after a long illness, on January 22, 2022.
Joe was a lifelong resident of Henderson County. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank Whitaker and Irene McGraw.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Doris Dayton Whitaker; sons, Eric and Michael Whitaker of Corpus Christi, TX; stepson, Kyle Marshall, wife Dawn, of Durham, NC; granddaughter Amanda Whitaker also of Corpus Christi, TX; sister, Barbara Dalton of Hendersonville, NC; brother, Bob Whitaker of Saluda, NC and many nephews and nieces.
Joe was an avid hunter and fisherman, he really loved to camp and enjoyed the outdoors.
He had worked at B&W Auto for many years.
A private graveside service will be held due to Covid risk.
