Arthur John Redden, Jr. (Skeeter), 87, of Hendersonville went home to be with the Lord on September 1, 2022. He passed peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones.
Arthur was born on July 12, 1935 in Hendersonville, NC. He was the son of the late Arthur John Redden, Sr. and Lena Ruth Redden. He was a 1953 graduate of Hendersonville High School and proud to be on the 1952 Bearcat state championship basketball team. He joined the United States Army and after successfully completing advanced Military Police training in Camp Gordon, Georgia, he was stationed in Berlin, Germany. It was in Berlin that he married Anne Alexander Redden on August 9, 1956 at the Berlin Command Chapel. He served as a Military Policeman guarding the Brandenburg Gate in Berlin. After serving for two years, he returned to the United States and enrolled in Western Carolina University. After graduating from Western, he decided to follow in the footsteps of his father and pursue a career as an attorney. He graduated from Wake Forest University School of Law, returned to Hendersonville and began his 45 year career as an attorney on September 1, 1965.
Arthur was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church of Hendersonville and was a member of Joe Wright’s Sunday School class. He enjoyed spending time with friends, deer hunting at his cabin in Mills River, playing golf, cards, and watching a good Western movie. Most of all, he loved his family and was quick to tell anyone how proud he was of them, especially his grandchildren.
Arthur is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Anne; son, Art (Stacey) and their daughter Reese; grandsons, Chase and Carson; and a special nephew Steven White, all of Hendersonville, NC. He was preceded in death by his son, Brad.
The family would like to thank Dr. Michael Stalford, Dr. Michael Neuenschwander, Dr. John Hill and Dr. Yaseen Zia. A special thanks to Dr. Eric Byrd for his utmost care, compassion and friendship through the years.

A funeral service will be held, Saturday September 10, 2022 at eleven o’clock in the morning at Hendersonville First Baptist Church, with Reverend Steve Scoggins officiating. Burial will be private.
