Janice Louise Owens, 75, of Zirconia, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday April 19, 2023 at her residence.
A native of Henderson County, she was the daughter of the late Burt and Ruth Goins Heatherly and wife of the late Carl Owens who died in 2005. She was preceded in death by two brothers, George Logan Heatherly and Michael Heatherly and two sisters, Mary Alice Levi and Madge Pace.
Janice was a devoted member of Mountain Valley Baptist Church. She served on the food ministery as well as helping with many crafts. She loved tending to her gardens and crafting. She was a very giving person, who loved people. Her passion was her family. Janice was loved by all that knew her. She will be missed dearly by her family and many special friends.
Those left to cherish her memory are one son; Joey Owens and his wife Rhonda of Zirconia; one daughter, Carlisa Price and her husband Joe of Dana; three grandchildren, Montana Stoker and her husband Josiah of Tryon, Chelsea Price of Dana and Aaron Owens of Zirconia; one brother, L.B. Heatherly who she considered a son and his wife Paula; one sister, Anne Rollins and her husband Steve all of Zirconia, and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held on Sunday April 23, 2023 at three o’clock in the afternoon at Mountain Valley Baptist Church (Zirconia) with the Reverend David Dickerson officiating. Burial will follow at Tuxedo Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the church and at other times will be at the home.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Mountain Valley Baptist Church.
