Ann Danner Reese Whitmire

Passed away peacefully at The Bridge at Lake Point Landing on April 7, 2024 under the diligent and dignified care of Four Seasons Hospice and the staff at The Bridge.
A woman deeply grounded in faith, a loving daughter and sister, a faithful wife, a devoted mother, a constant friend and a steadfast prayer warrior.
Born February 22, 1946 in Hickory, NC to the late Troy Lee Danner and Colleen Key Danner. Also preceded in death by her two husbands, James Mack Reese and General Ned Whitmire; Sister and Brother-in law, Patricia Danner Sprouse and Onald Loy Sprouse; Brothers-in law, Gerald Reese and Howard Reese; sisters-in-law, Jane Reese, Ella Mae Reese, Joyce Reese, Linda R. Payne, and June Whitmire.
Ann lived in Hickory until 1953 when her family moved to Brevard, NC. Ann graduated from Brevard High School in 1964. She attended Blanton’s Business College and then took at job at Brevard Federal Savings & Loan where she worked for 16 years. After that, she stayed home to raise her children. In 1992 she re-entered the workforce and worked for Cooper Construction, Barker Construction and PSNC (now Dominion Energy). Her final job was receptionist at Salon L. She was dearly loved by all of her employers , co-workers and customers.
She was an active member of First Baptist Church Hendersonville until her memory began to decline in 2020. She loved her church and she loved singing but most of all she loved Jesus.
Singing was her passion from an early age. Many who heard her would often remark, “She has the voice of an angel.” Together with Ned, they began Daystar, a Gospel singing group which began in 1990. For 18 years they blessed many with their voices and music.
She was also instrumental in helping raise funds for missions but always more comfortable supporting rather than leading. Which is why she and Ned made such a great team. He always took charge and she was his helpmate.
She was kind and compassionate. A woman of strength and integrity. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. Heaven has gained a precious soul. ”Her children rise up and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her: “Many women have done excellently, but you surpass them all.” Charm is deceitful, and beauty is vain, but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised.“

Surviving are her children, Kelly Reese Yarborough (Terry) of Hendersonville, NC , Kristi Reese Williams (Donnie) of Greer, SC and David M Reese of Scotsdale, AZ; her grandchildren and the joy of her life, C. Ryan Womack, Matthew T. Womack (Lindsey), Alex G. Yarborough (Paige), Amy G Yarborough, Haleigh A. Gallimore and Zachary J. Reese; one great-grandson, Noah Whitmire Womack; brothers-in-law, Marshall Whitmire, Butch Reese (Norma), Avery Reese (Kay), Tom Reese (Debbie), Dana Payne; sisters-in-law, Maxine Starner (Mark), Susie Reese; many nieces and nephews; bonus-grandchildren by marriage, (Jordan, Lauren, Madison and Braden); two special girls she thought of as great-grandchildren, Hayden and Scottie Cooper; special friends, Dot Case, Norma Bridges, Betty Landreth and Patsy Williams.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday April 14, 2024 at 3:00 pm at Hendersonville First Baptist Church with the Reverend Steve Scoggins officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the church.
