Robert (Robby) Craig Higgins, 60, of Hendersonville, North Carolina, wanted to meet his Heavenly Father after his long and unbearable battle with depression on Wednesday, May 8, 2024.
Robby was born on June 1, 1963, in Buncombe County, NC, to William “Fred” and Suzanne Higgins. He was a lifelong resident of Hendersonville. He is preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Suzanne; his namesake uncle, Robert Edgar Higgins; his uncle, Jack Thomas; his uncle, Lloyd “Sonny” Stiffler; his uncle, Gene Falls; his aunt, Phyllis Higgins Banta; and his parents-in-law, Ralph and Martha Ward.
Robby is survived by his wife of 31 years, Gina Higgins, his 19-year-old daughter, Lily Marie Higgins, his sister Leigh Ann Higgins, and Lily’s boyfriend, Peyton Cooper. He also survived by his aunt, Patricia Stiffler Thomas; his aunt, Margaret Stiffler Falls; his uncle Gary (Lee Anne) Stiffler; his sister and brother-in-law; and several beloved cousins, nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews.
Robby graduated from Hendersonville High School in 1981, where he played basketball and baseball. After graduating high school, he began working with his Dad at Higgins’ Quality Press for over 20 years. He enjoyed playing golf, swimming in the pool and ocean, riding his bicycle, hiking, sitting on the beach in the shade, going on family picnics in Pisgah National Forest, going to HHS football and basketball games, playing with his pets over his lifetime, and being with friends and family. He was a member of the Elks Lodge number 1616 and was the Exalted Ruler from 2001-2002. He was a Carolina Tar Heels fan his whole life and enjoyed watching their sporting games, and when his daughter went to the University of Tennessee, he became a Vols fan.
Robby was a devout Christian. He was involved in the church his whole life. He enjoyed doing disaster relief for NC Baptist Men in other areas of the country. He also helped with Habitat for Humanity.
To know Robby was to love Robby, and anyone could see God radiating through him. He is dearly loved by his many friends and family. He always lent a helping hand to anyone that needed it. He impacted so many people and will live in everyone’s memories forever.
A celebration of life will be held at Refuge Baptist Church, 27 Oleta Rd, Hendersonville, NC, on Saturday, May 18, 2024, at 2:00 PM. The family will receive friends following the service at the church.
