Mildred “Jane” Henderson, 87, of Flat Rock, passed away peacefully at her home, surrounded by her loving family on August 9, 2024.
She was the daughter of the late Paul and Ira Duncan. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother Paul Dean Duncan, sister-in-law Jeannette Duncan, nephew Richard Lee Henderson and niece Cathy Duncan Quinn.
Jane is survived by her husband of 65 years, Thomas Erwin Henderson; son, Thomas Paul Henderson; two daughters, Sheila Henderson Williams (George) and Elizabeth Henderson (Michael); two grandsons, Robert Hunter Williams (Brooke) and Tanner Lee Lunsford (Ashley); two great grandsons, Ayden Cole Jackson, and Bentley Chase Williams and one fur baby – Duncan. She is also survived by two sisters, Carolyn Henderson (Daniel) and Joan McMinn and several special nieces and nephews.
First and foremost, Jane was a devout Christian who witnessed to others by the life she lived every day. She was a member of Bethel Wesleyan Church her entire life and held numerous positions throughout the years. She was a longtime member of the Henderson County Curb Market. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Her greatest joys came from spending time with her family. She was loved by all who knew her. She was affectionately known as “sweet” or “precious” Jane. She was a blessing to all who had the privilege to have crossed paths with her.
She was co-owner and operator of Henderson’s Meat and Processing since 1974.
Family visitation will be from 1:00-2:00 on Tuesday, August 13, 2024, with a funeral service beginning at 2:00 at Bethel Wesleyan Church, Flat Rock, NC. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
