Katherine Brooks Campellone, 83, of Diamondhead MS, passed away peacefully on August 20th, 2024 after a brief illness. She was surrounded by her loving family at the time of her passing.
Kathy was born in Silverton, TX, to the late Knots and Madge Brooks and predeceased by siblings Willie Thomas, Hal Brooks and Roselyn Brooks.
She is survived by ; her children, Cheryl Hamer (Greg), Lisa Wintermantel (John) and Larry Bray (America); her grandchildren, Steve Hamer (Nicole), Jennifer Hardiman (Drew), Landon Bray, Sierra Bray, Katherine Wintermantel and Sarah Wintermantel; her great-grandchildren, Morgan and Averie Hamer; her siblings, Jimmy Brooks (Maryanne) and Loree Wiley as well as numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and great-great-nieces and nephews.
Kathy began her exceptional career in the casino industry in Las Vegas, NV as a casino cashier and later became co-owner of Saddle West Casino in Pahrump, NV. She subsequently relocated to Atlantic City, where her career continued to advance, ultimately leading to her distinction of being the highest-ranking female executive in Atlantic City as Vice President of Casino Operations of Harrah’s Resort and Casino. This achievement marked a significant turning point for women in the casino industry. Later, she moved to Mississippi to further her career and eventually retired there to enjoy more time with her family.
Above all else, Kathy will be remembered for her positive light, generous spirit and immense love and support for her family and friends.
A memorial gathering will be held in Silverton, Texas.
