Sylvia Maxine Jackson Reed went to be with the Lord on October 4, 2024 at the age of 53. She passed away peacefully at home after having a special week spending time with her family.
As a Hendersonville native, alumnus of Edneyville High School, Blue Ridge Tech, and Mars Hill University, she loved this place and the people surrounding her.
Sylvia was preceded in death by her father, Mack Jackson, her grandmother, Viola Ingle, and two unborn babies, who she is finally cradling in heaven.
She was survived by her best friend, loving husband, and ally, Joel Reed; her five children, Amanda, Joshua, Caleb (Rose), Daniel, and David; her mother, Ginny Jackson; her mother- and father-in-law Martha and Sam; her two sisters, Susan and Sharon, and their husbands, Craig and Mark; her brothers- and sisters-in-law Wade and Kim and Elizabeth and Ken; her many nieces, nephews and grand-nieces and nephews; and her countless friends.
Sylvia’s children meant everything to her. She would have given her life at any moment for her children, and they for her. Likewise, Sylvia and Joel were inseparable. They were always a team, bound together through love and devotion. Sylvia meant so much to so many people. She will be missed, desperately.
Sylvia always put God first in her life. She was a member of Mountain Home Baptist Church where she played piano, sang, and taught youth classes. Her love for God and her compassion spilled into every aspect of her life, especially as a registered nurse. Sylvia was beloved by her patients and colleagues due to her sunny demeanor, kindness, dedication, and special heart.
Sylvia’s favorite place in the entire world was Holden Beach. She traveled there every summer with her family, and she could never get enough of its beauty. Ironically, Jaws was her favorite movie; she loved sharks and was never afraid to jump in the water. Sylvia also enjoyed spending time with her family, whether that be sitting in the buddy seat on Joel’s tractor, riding a four-wheeler around the farm, or watching horror movies with her kids.
As her daughter Amanda says, the best way to honor Sylvia’s memory is to go home, hug your mother, and watch Jaws.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Gideons International.
May we always love and remember this most precious, beautiful woman. Blessings and peace.
A funeral service will be held Tuesday October 08, 2024 at two o’clock in the afternoon at Mountain Home Baptist Church.
