Gregory “Chad” Jones, 48, unexpectedly but peacefully departed his earthly home and entered into Heaven with our Lord and Savior on October 15, 2024.

Upon arriving in Heaven and meeting Jesus, Chad would have looked for the loved ones who had gone before him: his grandfather, George Russell Jones (POW-MIA, WWII); his grandmother, Minnie Bell Penland; his grandfather, Clyde Plemmons; his grandmother, Rubye Plemmons;  his uncles, William “Bill” Putnam and Gary Holcombe;  his stepfather, Jerry Lee Sexton and his stepmother, Gwenda Jones.

Chad left behind a legacy that will be cherished by all who knew him. He dedicated many years as a compassionate funeral assistant at Jackson Funeral Home, where he provided comfort and care to grieving families until his health required him to step away and retire. Even as his career ended, Chad’s heart and spirit remained vibrant. He turned his attention to his hobbies, which became his new focus. He had a passion for small engine repair, always enjoying the satisfaction of fixing things with his hands. Chad also found peace in the outdoors, where he loved to spend time surrounded by nature. Most of all, he cherished his beloved fur babies, who became his constant companions and emotional therapy during his later years. His gentle, caring nature was reflected in the way he nurtured and loved those around him, both human and animal.

Chad found the love of his life, Kimberly. Their connection was instant, a true love-at-first-sight story. From the moment they first spoke, they were inseparable, building a bond that only grew stronger over time. Together, they shared 21 wonderful years, filled with love, laughter, and unwavering devotion—first as a couple and then as husband and wife. Trusting in God as the foundation of their commitment, they weathered life’s challenges hand in hand, always leaning on their faith and each other. Their relationship was a beautiful testament to love, partnership, and faith, creating countless cherished memories along the way.

In addition to his beloved wife, Kimberly, Chad leaves behind a family who will forever cherish his memory. He is survived by his devoted parents, George Russell Jones, Jr., and Phyllis Ann Sexton, as well as his son, Gregory Tyler Jones. He will be deeply missed by his siblings, Keith Jones and Erica Blankenship (fiancé Justin Hunsinger), and his aunts, Teresa Putnam (husband Dean Whitson) and Karen Plemmons. Chad also leaves behind his nieces, Ashley Meadows (husband Justin) and Makenzy Jones, along with his adored nephew, Jordan Blankenship, and soon-to-be niece, Holly Hunsinger. He cherished his great-nephew, Sawyer Meadows, and shared a close bond with many other aunts, uncles and cousins.

His love for family extended to Kimberly’s side as well. Chad cherished his mother and father-in-law, Steve and Kathy Cairnes, and his sister-in-law, Sabrina Cairnes, all of whom he held dear to his heart. Chad’s legacy of love and kindness lives on in the hearts of those who loved him most.

A funeral service will be held, Saturday October 26, 2024 at two o’clock in the afternoon at  the Chapel in the Pines of Jackson Funeral Service .  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the chapel.
