Thomas Ponder Davis (Tom), 88, of Hendersonville, NC died in his home on May 27, 2020 with his wife of 41 years, Amanda Corn Davis, at his side. In addition to his wife, Tom is survived by a daughter (Cindy Rice and her husband Dennis of Oliver Springs, TN), a daughter (Karla Anders and her husband Billy of Hendersonville, NC), a son (Steve Matthews of Richmond, VA), grandchildren (Christian Smith/ Tim, Jared Rice/ Tabitha, Tiffany Anders, Sarah Joy/ Bart, Jacob Rice/ Heather, Matthew Cannon/ Stephanie, and Hannah May/ Derek), and nine great-grandchildren.

Tom was born in Asheville, NC to Jack Davis and Vera Ponder Davis.  He graduated from Asheville/Biltmore High School. He was a veteran of the US Navy and served during the Korean war on a USS LST amphibious ship. Later he worked as a supervisor at CTS in Arden, owned a hardware store, and was a contractor building homes in Buncombe and Henderson Counties when he retired.  Tom loved camping, fishing, and even began painting in the last three years of his life, but his favorite hobby was golf – and he was a great golfer.

Tom will be missed by his family and friends.  A memorial service will be held in the near future.  In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that donations be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (https://www.jdrf.org/donate/) or the Four Seasons Hospice Foundation in Hendersonville (https://www.fourseasonsfdn.org/obituary-memorials/).  The family wishes to thank the staff of Four Seasons Hospice/ Palliative Care, Brandy Netherton (his day-time caregiver for the past nine months), the Hendersonville Rescue Squad and the Edneyville Fire Department for their help and presence over the past two years.    Condolences may be sent to PO Box 113, E. Flat Rock, NC 28726.
