In loving memory of Bobby Fred Gosnell, 89, of Hendersonville, NC, who passed Sunday, January 2, 2022. A native of Mars Hill, NC, Bobby was born on December 21, 1932, son of the late Fred and Inez Gosnell of Mars Hill. He was preceded in death by his brother Roy Gosnell; is survived by his sister Gail Gosnell Beach, husband Jackie Beach of Morganton NC, and brother Cline Gosnell, wife Marsha Gosnell, of Mars Hill NC.
Bobby shared his life alongside his surviving wife, Betty Jean Noland Gosnell, with 67 years of devotion and love; his daughters Cheryl Gosnell Nickles, husband Nicholas Nickles, and Tracey Gosnell Shaw, husband K. Lance Shaw; four grandchildren: Dylan Cole and wife Lauren Cole, Hunter Cole and wife Marion Cole, Cade Shaw, and Carlyn Shaw; along with his first great-grandchild, Lincoln Cole.
Bobby was a US Army Combat Veteran – Korean War. He was retired from Gerber Products Company after 33 years of employment. He was also co-owner of Industrial Machine Service for over 25 years. An avid sportsman, Bobby loved hunting and fishing. His yearly excursions to Canada were a highlight of his, as well as, of those who accompanied him. In addition to fishing and hunting, he was fond of building late model stock cars. On any given weekend, he could be found at The New Asheville Speedway, Greenville-Pickens Speedway, or Hickory Motor Speedway. One of his favorite moments was earning “Late Model Stock Track Champion” at Greenville-Pickens in 1985.
Bobby lived for his wife, family, friends, and Sophie his little dachshund. He made the most of every moment. If you knew him, then you won’t forget him because he had a way of making a lasting impression. His spirit will live on in us.
A graveside service will be held, Friday January 07, 2022 at two o’clock in the afternoon at Gashes Creek Baptist Church Cemetery (Asheville NC) with Reverend Richard Merck of Naples Baptist Church officiating.
