Genevieve Martin, 86, of Horse Shoe, went home to be with the Lord on January 4, 2023. Born in Spruce Pine, she was predeceased by her parents, Latt and Ada McMahan; siblings, Bill McMahan, Bobby McMahan, Gladys Robinson and Ilean Autrey; husbands, James McFalls, Michael Martin and George Carruth; daughter, Regina Massey.
She is survived by sisters, Brenda Cook and Frances Ledford; children, Ronnie McFalls and wife Susan, Janet Sternal and husband Richard, Maurice McFalls and wife Monekia, Randy McFalls and wife Jerrie; grandchildren, Kelly Hartsock and husband Shawn, Timothy McFalls and wife Megan, Angela King, Pamela Schultz, Jerad McFalls and wife Karie, Jamie Pederson and husband Steve, Miranda McFalls, Mallori McFalls and fiancé Zachary Green, Christopher Parker, Ashley Parker; great grandchildren, Amaris Pruitt, Kennedy Banks and husband Jesse, Jeremiah Hartsock, Josiah Hartsock, Joshua Hartsock, Faith Pedersen, Baileigh Pedersen, Jaxton Pederson, Kamry Pederson, Zaelea Eller, Zayne McFalls, Naomi Hayes, Gabby Gardner, Brayden McFalls, Paxton McFalls, Willow Banks, Ruby Banks and Winona Banks.
“Gee” was an active member at Horse Shoe Baptist Church and founded the children’s backpack ministry there. She was the matriarch of her family and devoted her life to taking care of others, regardless if they were family, friend or stranger. Throughout the years she volunteered with Meals on Wheels, Red Cross Disaster Relief and Appalachian Coal Mine Ministries. Genevieve traveled to Mississippi and West Virginia on missions and supported St. Jude’s Hospital for Children, the Shriners and veterans.
Services will be held at Horse Shoe Baptist Church, Saturday, January 7 with visitation at 11 a.m. and the funeral service at 12 p.m. Burial will follow the service at Shepherds Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers please send donations to Horse Shoe Baptist Church at 5050 Brevard Rd. Horse Shoe, NC 28742.
