Jo Elena Holbert Brock, 91, of Flat Rock, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 5, 2023 at The Lodge at Mills River.
Jo Elena was the daughter of Vernon A. and Verda Drake Holbert. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by sisters Dorothy Burrell, Marguerite Morgan, and Brenda Minton, and her loving husband, William Monroe Brock, Jr., (Bill).
She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Hendersonville. Jo attended Hendersonville High School and had the honor of being the school’s first majorette. During her time at Hendersonville High, she found the love of her life, Bill Brock. They married shortly after graduating and enjoyed 57 years together.
She is survived by her two sons, Terry (Laurie) of Flat Rock, and Jeff (Brenda) of Tryon, as well as three grandchildren, Breanna Abee (Jeff) of Spartanburg, Justin Brock (Emily) of Tryon, Chase Brock (Rob Berman) of NY, and five great grandchildren. Jo and Bill loved their family. It was their greatest joy celebrating all the holidays and birthdays together.
In her early years, Jo Elena helped her family at Brock’s Drive-In. She changed her career path when she accepted a job at General Electric, giving her a career of her own. She retired from General Electric after 25 years of distinguished service. In retirement, Jo spent many hours in her beautiful flower gardens and enjoyed her many pets, birds, and wildlife that visited her home. Her last years were spent at The Lodge at Mills River making many friends. Our family appreciates all the wonderful care and love the staff and physicians gave her. Jo Elena was beautiful inside and out. She had the most loving and caring heart for all creatures. She will be greatly missed by all those who truly loved her.
At Jo Elena’s request there will be a private burial.
