Linda McCarson McMurray, 74, passed away peacefully Friday, January 5, 2024 at Heritage Hill Memory Care unit after a long illness. She lived a full and happy life.
Linda was a lifelong resident of Henderson County. She was born on March 13, 1949 to parents Raymond and Ruth McCarson and grew up in Tuxedo, NC. She graduated from East Henderson High School in 1967, and it was quite fitting that she was voted “Best Personality” by her senior class. She was kind to everyone and made friends quickly with her warm, loving demeanor.
On August 20th, 1971 she married Kirk McMurray at Tuxedo Baptist. They moved to Franklin, NC for the first four years of their marriage before moving back to Hendersonville, where they remained for the rest of her life. Together they had two sons, Roger and Matthew.
Linda worked full time most of her life while striving to keep her home neat and clean, her family well fed, demonstrating her love for family and friends, and keeping the yard covered in beautiful flowers each season.
She was a strong Christian woman who lived her life aspiring to be Christlike. She instilled good values and Christian morals in both of her sons, who in turn became strong, successful Christian men that aspired to be like their mom.
She was delighted by the birth of each of her grandchildren and was a wonderful, loving grandmother to them. She was affectionately known to them as “MawMaw.” She loved to show her grandchildren flowers, play, laugh, and read them story after story.
Her long fight is over and she is now at peace in Heaven. Linda is preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Ruth McCarson, and her firstborn son, Dr. Roger McMurray.
Along with her husband of 52 years, Kirk, she is survived by her son Matthew McMurray and his wife Holly of Hendersonville, NC; her daughter-in-law Renn McMurray of Greenville, NC; and her three grandchildren whom she loved dearly, grandsons Baker and Carson and a beautiful granddaughter, Elliott. “Aunt Linda” is also survived by three nephews: David and his wife Kelly of Ramseur, NC; John and his wife Melanie of Hendersonville, NC; and Jake and his wife Jessica of Hendersonville, NC. She was also the proud aunt of several grandnieces and grandnephews.
A graveside service for Linda will be held on Friday, January 12, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Bethel Wesleyan Church Cemetery.
