We celebrate the extraordinary life of Mary Anne Nelson who passed away of Covid-19 on January 7, 2022, after 92 wonderful years of life. She was born in Wellesley MA (9/12/1929) on a blustery fall day in the same town where she attended high school and met her husband, Ernest E. Nelson, Jr (married June 6, 1953). Stylish and savvy, she took the train to Boston Edison where she worked as a mail clerk chatting with everyone on the trip and in the office. Her bubbly personality and contagious (some might say mischievous) smile brought joy to many. She was awarded a degree in Secretarial Arts at La Salle Jr College though she wanted to major in business – but was told that woman should take secretarial training. None-the-less she went on to open a successful dress shop in Acton, MA, aptly named “The Village Belle” (1970). She is survived by her son Ernest E Nelson III (born April 1960) and daughter Carol A Nelson (born May 1956). She traveled on the road with her husband who was a sales representative for clothing manufacturers – she was a perfect size 8 and modeled the merchandise for buyers upon request. She fed the birds, gardened, filled flowerpots on the deck of her condo in North Carolina, and was adopted by many a cat. After her husband passed away in 2010, she lived in Hendersonville, NC in the beautiful Blue Mountains where she made many beloved friends. She had a heart full of warmth and brightened every room she walked into. Thank you to all her kind friends and neighbors in who she enjoyed spending time with. She will be greatly missed by all.
