Mills River – Roy Bass Brogden Sr., age 90, passed away on January 6, 2026. A native of Springfield, Georgia, Roy was a long-time resident of Henderson County.
He was the son of the late Lamar Mitchell Brogden and Thera Bass Brogden. Roy proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army. He was the founder of Roy Brogden Drywall Company and was known for his strong work ethic and dedication to his community.
Roy was an active member of Carpenter’s Hands Ministry and faithfully served as a deacon at French Broad Baptist Church, where his faith and service touched many lives.
He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Juanita Brogden; three sons, Roy Brogden Jr. (Nita), Boyce Brogden (Melinda), and Lathe Brogden (Vicki); along with grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and a large extended family who will cherish his memory.
A Funeral Service will be held Monday, January 12, 2026, at 2:00pm at French Broad Baptist Church, with interment to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The Reverends Kemuel Pruitt and Don Freeman will officiate. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
