Amanda Davis, 89, passed away peacefully on January 8, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love, loyalty, and a well-worn pair of hiking boots.
Amanda was a vibrant and kind person. She was a faithful friend, devoted wife, and she adored her children and grandchildren. Whether with friends or family or on solo treks, Amanda could often be found on a favorite trail, taking in the beauty of God’s creation with wonder and gratitude.
Her devotion to family was profound. She was the kind of person who remembered everyone’s favorite foods, tried never to miss a milestone, and had a talent for making each person feel uniquely cherished. When you were in her presence everyone—whether related by blood, marriage, or choice—knew they belonged.
Amanda’s friendships were deep and enduring. She was the friend you could call at any hour, who showed up without being asked, and whose loyalty never wavered. She had a gift for listening and a knack for knowing what to say—or when to simply sit in companionable silence.
She graduated from Edneyville High School in 1954. She worked in various jobs, including working as the first female employee at the DuPont Factory in Brevard in 1959. She must have been the most efficient and friendly switchboard operator ever. For most of her career she was a Real Estate Broker in Henderson County. She found great joy in the relationships she formed with clients and deep satisfaction in helping them find homes that moved them closer to their dreams and aspirations.
Amanda is survived by her beloved children and their spouses: Karla Anders and Billy, Steve Matthews and John Fuller, and Cindy Rice and Dennis. She had seven grandchildren (Christian Smith, Sarah Joy and Bart, Tiffany Anders, Matthew Cannon and Stephanie, Jacob Rice and Heather, Hannah Ruth May and Derek, and Jared Davis Rice and Tabitha) and nine great-grandchildren. James Corn and Mary Lee Barnett are her surviving siblings along with many nieces and nephews.
She was pre-deceased in death by her husband Tom Davis, her parents Alma Hill Corn and Joel Columbus Corn, and her siblings Flora Cagle, Vollie Corn, and Gordon Corn.
The family would like to express their deep gratitude for her dear caregivers Grace Afriyie and Hanna Birago and to the staff of Four Season’s Hospice (especially Courtney and Brennan).
A celebration of her remarkable life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, consider taking a hike in her memory. Donations may be made to The Friends of Carl Sandburg (PO Box 16 Flat Rock NC 28731) or Four Season’s Hospice. Please add a note indicating that it is a gift In Memory of Amanda C. Davis.
She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.
The family has entrusted Jackson Funeral Service with the arrangements. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.jacksonfuneralservice.com or by mail to Jackson Funeral Service, 1101 Greenville Hwy, Hendersonville, NC 28792 (please include Amanda Davis’s name on the condolences).
