Susan F. “Susie” Sessoms
Susie went to be with the Lord on Sunday, January 9, 2022 at the Brooks-Howell Home in Asheville, N.C.
She was born near Wilmington in the small town of Burgaw, N.C. on February 19, 1934. She was pre-deceased by her husband of 57 years, Bill Sessoms and her two brothers, Edward and Graham Ferrell.
Susie, Bill and their small family moved throughout North and South Carolina as Bill pursued his career in insurance. In late 1971 Bill decided to leave the corporate life and put down roots in Hendersonville. They opened a small Dry Cleaning business and operated it until retirement. They remained here in the mountains until their deaths.
Susie enjoyed arts and crafts and crossword puzzles. But most of all she enjoyed golf and cards with her friends at Hendersonville Country Club. She also enjoyed traveling and going back to her roots on the beaches of North Carolina. She and Bill were active members of the Hendersonville First Baptist Church and had many friends there.
She will be missed by many, but, none will miss her more than her two children; Wes Sessoms and wife Maxine and Kim S. Russell and her husband Ray; her two grandsons, Wesley T. Sessoms and Ethan R. Sessoms and her great granddaughter, Clementine Luella Sessoms.
The family will receive friends at the Hendersonville First Baptist Church, Saturday, January 15th from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. Her memorial service will follow at 11:00 AM.
