Mabel Jackson Watts, 93, received her heavenly homecoming Thursday, January 14,
2021. She was born in Henderson County to Will & Lama Jackson & remained a lifelong
resident. She worked at G.E. for 16 years, but was a homemaker the majority of her life. She
was a charter member of Sugar Loaf Baptist Church where she served as the pianist. She often
sang gospel music as part of a quartet and trio. She was the wife of Elmer E. Watts for 71 years
prior to his death in 2019.
She leaves behind a son, Ray Watts (Elvonne), 2 daughers, Judy Faye Capps (Ronnie), &
Donna Nix, all of Hendersonville. She was predeceased by a son, Jerry Watts. She had 10
grandchildren & many great-grandchildren & great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by
5 brothers & 5 sisters. She shared a special loving bond with her son-in-law, Ronnie Capps.
She was a loving mother & grandmother who leaves behind a legacy of love &
faithfulness. She was a prayer warrior. Her sense of humor & quick wit will forever be missed.
We celebrate knowing she has been reunited with her loving husband.
The funeral will be at 1:00 on Wednesday, January 27, in The Chapel in The Pines of Jackson Funeral
Service. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The family asks those in attendance to wear a mask & practice social distancing. There is no visitation due to COVID.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Elizabeth House, 581 S. Allen Rd, Flat Rock,
NC 28731.
