Paul Roland Hoots, 80, lifelong resident of Henderson County, NC, went to be with our Heavenly Father on Thursday, January 14th, 2021.

Roland was born on March 1st, 1940, in Hendersonville, NC. He was the son of the late James Paul &

Ila Hyder Hoots. He was a 1958 graduate of Dana High School.

Roland is preceded in death by his grandson, Kerry Russell “Rusty” Davis, brothers Boyce, Larry &

Boyd Hoots; his sisters Maxine Smith, Carolyn Dickerson, & Cleo Hoots.

Roland is survived by his wife of 62 years, Lois Taylor Hoots, his daughter Renee Davis & son-in-law

Kerry Davis of Camden, SC; his son Ricky Hoots of Mills River; Kathe Hoots of Palm Beach Gardens,

FL; Grandson Rocky Davis & fiance Dustin Nisley of Flat Rock, NC; One and Only great

granddaughter who he felt hung the Moon, Rylee Dean of Mills River, NC; Brother Noel Hoots & wife

Mary Ruth Hoots of Naples, NC; Sister Brenda Gordon & husband Robert Gordon of Flat Rock, NC;

many nieces and nephews and his Special Childhood buddy Life-long friend Pete Gray of Mountain

Home, NC.

Roland worked at Ecusta for 10 years and retired from Dupont of Brevard after 28 years of service. His

special interests included family geneology, antique cars, collecting antique license plates & lunch

boxes. He enjoyed socializing & loved attending music venues at The Green Barn in Horse Shoe,

Brown Farm & Fletcher Feed & Seed.

Roland’s fraternal honors include being a Past Grand Representative for the state of Michigan. He was

an active member for 53 years & Past Master of Kedron Lodge #387 AF & AM. He was a Shrine

member of 21 years of the Oasis Shrine Temple of Charlotte, 20 year member of Hendersonville Shrine

Club, Lifemember/Charter Member/Worthy Patron of Green River Chapter #375 in Columbus, NC, 53

year member of the Order of Eastern Star; Member of Grand Cross of Color of Rainbow Girls.

Roland was also a life member of the National Street Rod Association & longtime member of Carolina

Mountain Car Club. He thoroughly enjoyed rebuilding, showing, & driving his 1934 Ford 5-window

coupe & 1936 Ford Pickup.

The family would like to thank Dr Jan Levene & Dr James Caserio & his staff for their dedicated care

for Roland over the years.

A memorial service will be held at First Baptist Church on 5th Avenue on Thursday, January 21st at

11am. For those who would like to attend virtually the service will be uploaded to FBCHNC YouTube.

The burial will be at Forest Lawn on Tracy Grove Road following the memorial service. Kedron Lodge

will provide Masonic Rites The family welcomes you to attend a drive-thru visitation at Forest Lawn.

memory for Shriners Hospital of Greenville, SC (950 W Faris Rd, Greenville, SC 29605) or Masonic

Home for Children at Oxford (600 College St, Oxford, NC 27565).
