David Richard Ward, 74, of Fletcher NC , passed away Monday January 16, 2023 at the Elizabeth House.
He was the son of the late James Ezra and Sarah Davis Ward. He was preceded in death by his step son Brian Daniel Capps, one brother; Sonny Ward and two sisters; Betty Gosnell and Carolyn O-Neill.
David was a US Navy veteran having served aboard the air craft carrier The Oriskny. He graduated from UNC-Asheville and was a former manager of the US Department of Labor Statistics in Atlanta, GA. In his later career he owned and operated Wood Floors by Dave Ward. He was a member of the NHRA – National Dragster Association, racing his 1963 Pontiac LeMans, The War Chief. David also had a great love of music and was an avid guitar player.
Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife; Beverly Bailey Ward, two sons; Ryan Ward and Wesley Ward, his daughter; Lauren Ward-Hilton, seven grandchildren , four great grandchildren and numerous neices and nephews.
A celebration of life will be held, Saturday, January 28, 2023 at three o’clock in the afternoon at the Upward Christian Fellowship, 991 Upward Road, Flat Rock, NC 28731 with the Reverend Anthony Craver officiating. The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service in the church
