Jerry Pridmore, 67, of Hendersonville left his earthly body on Friday, January 17, 2025 after a brief battle with cancer. He passed peacefully surrounded by his loved ones.
Jerry, affectionately known as “J” or “Jer” by his friends and family, was born on January 19, 1957 in Hendersonville where he lived an abundant life. He attended West Henderson High School where he played football and wrestled. Jerry continued his education at Brevard College and finished at Clemson University with a major in Engineering Analysis. He began his professional journey at Brevard’s Olin Chemical Corporation (Ecusta Paper), where he held multiple roles until the plant’s closure, and later concluded his career at Shorewood Packaging in Hendersonville.
In true engineer fashion, Jerry never stopped working. He was always tinkering and fixing things, known by all as a ‘jack of all trades’. Later in life, Jer took up cattle farming, fence mending, and making hay.
J also played hard. He loved hunting, fishing, and walking in the woods looking for signs of wildlife with his buddies. Camping, boating, watching his grandchildren play sports, working on the family cabin, and riding the “buggy” filled his days with much joy. He enjoyed visiting National Parks with Sherri and their dear friends. By fall 2024, they had explored 26 parks together.
Jerry was a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Hendersonville for 28 years. He was a patient and quiet man, and while most of the time he was an observer, he had a wonderful sense of humor. You would often hear him crack a joke from the other side of the room, always bringing light and levity to the spaces he occupied.
He is preceded in death by his dad, Jack Pridmore (whom he never met); mom, Jeanette White; brother, Butch Pridmore; father-in-law, Bill Case; and sister-in-law, Debbie Allison.
Left to cherish Jerry’s memory are his high school sweetheart wife of 45 years, Sherri Pridmore; son Mitchel Pridmore and his wife Megan; daughter Tarah Starling and her husband Justin; and five grandchildren, Myers and Eller Pridmore, Ansley, Addison and Jaxson Starling.
The family would like to thank the staff at Pardee Hospital and the Elizabeth House for their tender care. A special thanks to Dr. Eric Byrd for his compassion and exceptional care.
A Celebration of Jerry’s life will be on Monday, January 20th at 2:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Hendersonville, followed by a gathering in the 316 Center.
