Hubert Floyd Thompson, 87, of Dana, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, January 19, 2023 with his loving family by his side.

Born in April of 1935, he was a native of Polk County, although, he spent most of his life in Henderson County. He was the son of the late Frank and Mandy Thompson. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 59 years, Margaret Jewel Thompson; two children, Floyd Thompson and Peggy Thompson;  his siblings, Bob Thompson, Thomas Thompson, Leroy Thompson, Sam Thompson, Horace Thompson, Margaret Ponder, Betty Ruth Morgan, Margie Lamb, Myrtle Ponder, and Shirley Walker.

He was a long-time member of Dana Baptist Church. Growing up in Polk County, he dedicated his life to the Lord as a member of Silver Creek Baptist Church. He worked as a landscaper and was also employed by the Hendersonville Country Club for 22 years. He was a devoted husband and loving father.

Hubert never met a stranger and was always willing to help out anyone in need. He was a true and faithful friend. His positive outlook and uplifting spirit was a treasure for all who knew him. He was a master storyteller who told many humorous stories. His sense of humor and entertaining stories will be greatly missed.

He is survived by two sons, Frank Thompson and his wife Cindy and Donald Thompson and his wife Donna of Hendersonville; a sister, Hazel Ward Browning of Saluda; seventeen grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren.

A celebration of life service will be held at 11:30 AM Saturday, January 28, 2023 at Dana Baptist Church with Reverend Tyler Pegram of Locust Grove Baptist Church officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:30 – 11:30 AM Saturday at the church.
