Betty M. Stiffler was born May 18, 1926 in Chicago, Illinois to Harold G. Black and Mae Remer Black. She had a brother Robert H. Black and a sister Jean Frazier Matthy. Her parents and siblings predeceased her.

Betty died on February 4. 2025 at her family’s home in North Carolina. She was a homemaker and a Navy wife to Jack E. Stiffler, ADC Chief (deceased) and had two children Diana S. Larson (Dennis) and Terry J. Stiffler (Wendy), two granddaughters, Dawn Michelle Larson Scott and Debbie Renee Larson Smith (Chris), one great granddaughter, Allison Renee Smith. Later in her life, she reunited with an old friend, Gust Rundquist and they enjoyed many years of companionship until he passed.

Betty grew up in Philadelphia where she graduated from high school. In 1947 she married and lived in many Eastern cities before moving to Florida in 1959. After her husband, Jack died and her aunt who lived with her died, she made the decision to move to North Carolina in 1999 to be near her daughter and son-in-law. She had a beautiful condo until 2017 and then moved into her daughter’s home where she stayed until she died February 4, 2025 at the age of 98 2/3. The family has so many wonderful memories of her. She never was afraid to try anything fun. She loved fishing, shelling, the beach, crabbing, bowling, golfing and being with friends and helping them when they needed her advice.

Betty was a Lutheran and belonged to the following organizations. Order of the Eastern Star, Life Member of the Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary, the Fleet Reserve Association (FRA) ladies Auxiliary, The Retired Enlisted Association (TREA) and the American Legion Auxiliary.
No local services are planned. A memorial service will be held at a later date at Bay Pines National Cemetery in St.Petersburg.
