Terry Mills, 76, peacefully passed away in his Hendersonville, North Carolina home on Monday, February 8th. Terry was bornon July 16th, 1944 to Robert and Margaret Mills of San Antonio, Texas. He grew up there working in his father’s butcher shop or at his Uncle Bill’s ranch in Marion, Texas. In 1962, Terry joined the U.S. Air Force, where he served with the Combat Defense Force in Plattsburgh, New York and as a combat medic in Puerto Rico and Vietnam. Following his discharge, Terry attended Texas A&M to study environmental chemistry eventually moving to Houston to work for State of Texas. There he devoted the entirety of his career to protecting Texans’ drinking water from environmental pollution while teaching and developing national water quality standards. Terry was a devout Christian and was a member of Mud Creek Baptist Church. He volunteered in the U.S. Civil Air Patrol where he participated in counterdrug flights and helped develop young leaders.
He is survived by his wife Lynda Mills; their son, Byron “B.J.” Mills and wife Amber Moon; two grandchildren, Wesley and Jacob Mills; and numerous nieces and nephews.
