Samuel Edgar Robinson, 58, of Mooresboro, departed from this world on February 11, 2026, after a courageous battle with lung cancer. Born in the mountains of Henderson County, Sam was the beloved son of the late Clifford Handy Robinson and Margaret Elizabeth Reynolds Robinson. He now rejoins them, along with his sister, Sarah Garrett, and his brother, Clyde Robinson, in a place of eternal rest.
Sam attended Edneyville High School, where he proudly drove a school bus—already showing the dependability and quiet strength that would define his life. He later spent many years working as an HVAC mechanic, serving the latter part of his career with Rutherford Heating and Air, using his skills to make life more comfortable for others.
He was a man of simple joys and honest passions: the thrill of professional wrestling, the excitement of a good auction, the comfort of a good cup of coffee, and faithfully cheering on the North Carolina Tar Heels. Sam possessed a kind and gentle spirit, an easy smile, and a welcoming nature that turned strangers into friends by day’s end. His heart was soft, his laughter genuine, and his love as steady as the sunrise.
To know Sam was to feel at home—seen, accepted, and cared for. He was a man who made life lighter for those around him.
Each touched by the kindness and warmth he so quietly shared, Sam leaves behind the love of his life and devoted companion, Lisa Mathis, whose presence was a constant comfort to him. He is held dearly in the hearts of his cherished loved ones, a daughter, Ashleigh Robinson; stepchildren, Amanda Mathis and Joseph Mathis; Grandchildren, Brooklyn, Joseph, Chloe, Charlee, and Carter; a sister, Linda Christopher (Jim); two brothers, Lonnie Robinson, and Andy Robinson and wife, Becky. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Though he is gone from our sight, Sam’s memory remains a warm ember, glowing in the hearts of all who loved him. He will be deeply and dearly missed.
“Will love you forever. Always have, always will.”
A celebration of Sam’s life will be at 2:00 pm Sunday, February 15, 2026 in the Chapel in the Pines of Jackson Funeral Service, Hendersonville, NC. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the chapel.
Condolences may be sent to the Robinson family at www.jacksonfuneralservice.com, or to 1101 Greenville Highway, Hendersonville, NC 28792. Please include Sam’s name on your condolence.
