Walt Dhein went home to be with the Lord on Monday, February 16, 2026, at Hospice Four Seasons Elizabeth House in Hendersonville, North Carolina. He passed peacefully, surrounded by love, comfort and compassionate care.

He was born on December 16, 1943, in Hennepin, Minnesota, son of the late George and Loraine Dhein.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Bob Dhein.

He is remembered lovingly by his children Lee Terrel, Robert Dhein, Jennifer Ringer; daughter-in-law Amy Dhein, grandchildren Ian Dhein, Avery Dhein and Harrison Ringer. Walt’s sister Loraine Richie, and his brothers Terry Dhein, Arthur Dhein, and Georgie Dhein. Walt is also remembered by many extended family members and friends who will deeply miss him.

Walt had a lifelong passion for antiques and worked for nearly 42 years as an antique dealer in the Asheville area. He enjoyed going to antique auctions, picking, and collecting pieces of history. Walt had an extensive knowledge of antiques and was always willing to share that knowledge to help others in the antique community. Through his love for antiques, we all learned so much from him.

He also enjoyed bragging on his grandchildren. Walt never missed an opportunity to talk about his three wonderful grandchildren who brought him immense joy. A cherished grandfather, they will never forget hanging out with “grandpa” at his antique store.

Walt had a unique gift for connecting with people—he never met a stranger. He touched the lives of everyone who had the honor of knowing him. His selflessness, warmth and generous spirit will be remembered forever. He leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness and compassion. He built many lifelong friendships and memories. We loved him and he loved us.

A celebration of Walt’s life will be held on March 21, 2026. Place and time are to be determined. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be offered in memory of Walt to: Hospice Four Seasons Elizabeth House.
