William “Bill” Albert Hill, 84, of Hendersonville passed away peacefully at home with his family on Friday, March 4, 2022. A native of Henderson County, and son of the late Luther and Ella J Hill from the Middlefork in Bat Cave, NC area. Bill was a lifelong member of Valley Hill Fire & Rescue where he served for 53 years and retired as Chief, but still remained on the Board of Trustees. Bill also retired from DuPont of Brevard, Henderson County EMS, and then retired once again from 4×4 Country of Hendersonville. He saw the need for an all terrain rescue team in our area, and worked with the Henderson County Sheriff’s Department for many years developing that program. He had a love for God, family, music, and the outdoors. He was a devoted father, husband, and served his community in too many ways to mention. Always a kind smile and kind word to everyone he met and loved by all.
Bill is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Carol Hill, as well as his children Dwight Hill and wife Carol of Hendersonville, Gary Hill and wife Janie of Brevard, Kristie McBride and husband Daniel of Lincolnton, and daughter-in-law Beverly Hill of Hendersonville. Blessed with Fifteen Grandchildren: Dustin Hill (Grace), Dru Jensen (Kyle), Dane Hill, Ray Hill, Amanda Stepp (Cory), Gary Hill, Evan Hill, Josh Gant, Erin Barton, Keri Gambill, Kyle Gambill, Daniel McBride, Kiera Hughey, Liam McBride, and Brandon McBride. Three Great Grandchildren: Deus Hill, and Conor and Greer Stepp.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sons Al Hill and John Hill, both of Hendersonville.
Visitation will be held at Jackson’s Funeral Service on Wednesday, March 9, 2022 from 11:00-12:45. The funeral service will begin at 1:00 pm and proceed to Forest Lawn Memorial Park for a graveside committal service.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Valley Hill Fire & Rescue for the Robbie Cramer Scholarship Foundation, or to Four Seasons Hospice.
