On March 09, 2026, Roger Dean Barolet peacefully passed away after a long illness.

Roger was born November, 14, 1956 in Paducah, KY. He was the only child of the late Jean Buchanan. At the age of 7, he was adopted by his stepfather, the late Armand Barolet.

He loved being on the water, and this guided him to joining the US Coast Guard and becoming a 20- year veteran.  Roger served in Desert Storm and Grenada as well as ports in Alaska, Hawaii, Boston and Newport, RI, where Roger became a Plank Owner for steering the first crew USCG vessel Seneca from Newport’s shipyard.

It was during Hurricane Andrew Relief efforts for Coast Guard housing in 1992 that he met his wife Renne, at the Opa Locka Air Station in Miami. She was working for the FAA ATC at Opa Locka, as most of the airports in Miami were severely damaged.

Roger was a highly decorated veteran, being awarded the Domain of the Golden Dragon for crossing the Artic Circle, the Order of the Shellback for crossing the equator, and many commendations and awards.

After retiring from the USCG in 1998, he joined Renne in Hendersonville, NC and worked briefly for the USFS before working 10 years with the NC Justus Academy. Roger was a member of the ELKS Lodge #1616, the American Legion Post #86, as well as a lifetime member of the Moose.

Roger is survived by his loving wife, Renne and two stepsons; Ian and Cooper Piermarini. He is also survived by two cousins, Laura Hard Lewis and John Hard.

The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be sent to local veteran’s groups or animal shelters.

Condolences may be sent to the Barolet family at www.jacksonfuneralservice.com or C/O Jackson Funeral Service 1101 Greenville Highway, Hendersonville, NC 28792. Please include Roger’s name in your condolences.
