Patricia Ann Vossler (nee Simmons) 99, was born to Harley Daniel Simmons and Leota Sapp Simmons in Ohio. She died at home with family at her side, on March 14, 2024.

Pat graduated from Wittenberg University (Ohio). In 1945 she traveled by bus to Columbia, SC to marry Thomas Elmer Vossler, who was an Army sergeant. After the war they lived in Findlay, Ohio. Soon after they moved to Gambier, Ohio where Tom attended Kenyon College and graduated from Bexley Hall Seminary in 1951.

Pat supported Tom as a clergy wife while taking care of their four children. Pat and Tom were loving, caring parents who gave their children good educations, including art and music lessons. The family lived in Toledo, Ohio from 1951 to 1954.

They moved to Cleveland Heights, Ohio in 1954, where Tom was rector at St. Alban’s Episcopal church for 31 years. Pat worked as a substitute teacher when the children were in school. Rather than completely retiring, Tom became priest at the Church Of Transfiguration in Saluda, NC and they moved to Hendersonville NC in 1985. There they made many new friends playing bridge at the Opportunity House. Pat also volunteered at the Literary Council. She enjoyed swimming at the Y, reading mysteries, hiking trails, and singing in the church choir. Over the years they traveled to Europe and to 11 Elderhostel locations in the USA. They spent many summer vacations with their children while fishing in Ontario, Canada.

Besides her parents, Pat was preceded in death by her loving husband of 64 years, her sister Betty Stroup, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, a son-in-law, and a niece and nephews.

She is survived by her children, Susan Kay Williams, Sarah Ann Wright, Daniel Thomas Vossler (Deborah), Frederick Jonathan Vossler (Patty), grandchildren, James Shannon Williams, Sarah Marcy Sharp, Erik Jonathan Vossler (Mallory Malec), Alexander James Vossler, Harley Daniel Vossler, Abigail Fagan Vossler, great grandchildren, Braeden Sharp, Alexandra Sharp and many nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to send special thanks to the Physicians, nurses, CNA’s, and therapists at Pardee Hospital, second floor, The Laurels of Hendersonville, and Four Seasons Palliative Care and Hospice Care.

At a date to be determined, a memorial service will be held at the Episcopal Church of the Transfiguration.
