Bobie Joe Gibbens, 92, of Hendersonville, passed away Saturday, March 14, 2026, at his residence.

A native of Imboden AR, Bobie began his life in the mountains of NC in 1974.  He was the son of the late Robert Gibbens and Freddie East Gibbens. Bobie shared a devoted and loving marriage with his wife, Viola Bell Raines Gibbens, for 70 wonderful years, building a life together centered on faith, family, and lasting commitment.

He was preceded in death by two sons, Ronald Joe Gibbens and Dennis Mark Gibbens, and one brother, Charles J. Gibbens.

A proud U.S. Army veteran, Bobie lived a life of service both to his country and his community. He was a faithful member of Balfour United Methodist Church and generously volunteered with the Hendersonville Rescue Mission, the Bread Ministry, and Meals on Wheels. He retired from Normack Industries after 31 years of dedicated service.

Bobie loved fishing, family gatherings, and cookouts, where he always looked forward to enjoying peach cobbler. Above all, he was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend whose kindness and steady presence touched everyone who knew him.

He is survived by his wife, Viola Bell Raines Gibbens; his daughter, Gina Turner and her husband, Paul, of Asheville; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and one great-great-great-grandchild.

Bobie’s life was a testament to faith, family, and service. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

A funeral service will be held Friday, March 20, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Balfour United Methodist Church, with Reverend Mike Phipps officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
