Mar 20, 2025

William Henry Ball, age 81, of Hendersonville, NC, went home to be with the Lord on March 20, 2025 surrounded by the love of his family.

A native of Henderson County, Henry was born on April 1, 1943 to the late William Frank Ball and Ruby Myrtle Ball. In 1963, he married Gladys Parris, and together they shared over 60 years of marriage. In that time, they built a life and a family together, welcoming two sons: William David Ball (1964) and Gary Duane Ball (1972).

A devoted Christian, he lived out his faith not only in words, but by actions— sacrificing for his family and serving others. Henry was known as a provider and a protector, always doing what he could to support and care for his family and others. A carpenter by trade, he will be remembered for his strong work ethic and dedication to his craft. Whether building or repairing, he believed in doing things the right way, not just getting the job done; that belief was evident in all that he did.

Not only did he build physical structures, but he also built strong relationships and friendships with others, laying a firm foundation for his family. He loved spending time with his family, especially telling them stories and eating meals with them. He would often be found sneaking snacks and sweets to his great-grandchildren. He enjoyed watching old Westerns (especially Gunsmoke), going on vacations with his family, and working outside.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his two sons, William David Ball (July 3, 2019)  and Gary Duane Ball (May 29, 2013); four brothers, Ervin Ball, Ronnie Ball, Donnie Ball, Charlie Ball; two sisters Susie Morris and Brenda Cairnes.

Left to carry on his legacy are his beloved wife, Gladys Ball; grandson, William Brandon Ball (Courtney) and great-grandchildren, Elizabeth and Juliette Ball; granddaughter, Ashley Cooper (Christian); granddaughter, Caylee Ball; grandson, Landon Ball (Caitlin) and great-grandchildren, Salem and Baylor Ball; grandson, Jarrett Whitley (Kelsey); one daughter-in-law, Teresa Ball; several nieces and nephews.

The family will celebrate Henry’s life in a private gathering.

Jackson Funeral Service is honored to serve the Ball family.
