Alice Ruth Sexton Buckner, 96, of Hendersonville, passed away Tuesday, March 23, 2023, after a period of declining health.
She was a daughter of the late C.C. and Anna Murphy Sexton. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by the love of her life, her husband Oscar, who passed in 2015. She was also preceded in death by two sons, Bobby, and Nicky.
She was orphaned at the age of 12 and was placed into foster care along with her sisters, Edith Clayton, Willie Beene, Lois Sexton and a brother, J.T. Sexton.
Upon her marriage to Oscar, she left her job at Chipmans Lacross Hoisery Mill in
East Flat Rock and became a full-time mother and homemaker. To fill her spare time, she was an avid reader of western books including the full set of Louis L’Amour writings which she owned. When Ruth was not reading, you could find her viewing True Crime dramas and Mystery suspense shows.
She is survived by her son, Michael “Buck” Buckner; daughter, Donna Ruth Huggins; two grandchildren, Samantha, and Bobby; three great-grandchildren.
A private burial took place on March 29, 2023.
