Walter Griffin Hill, 70, of Flat Rock, North Carolina, peacefully passed away at his home on Monday, March 23, 2026.
A native of Henderson County, Walter was the beloved son of the late Clanny Griffin Hill and Reba Annette Conner Hill. He was preceded in death by his devoted wife, Linda G. Hill, with whom he shared 50 years of marriage, and by three brothers, Roger Dale Hill, Leonard Hill, and Ray Hill.
Walter was a proud United States Army veteran and spent many years as a truck driver for Johnson Produce Company, a work he loved deeply. He had a lifelong passion for big trucks, and he found joy in farming, fishing, and being outdoors. Above all, Walter cherished the time spent with his family and friends, sharing his warmth, humor, and gentle spirit with everyone around him.
He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Left to honor his memory are his son, James Hill (Judith); his daughter, Linda Bishop; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; his sister, Annette Hill; his brother, Steve Hill; his uncle, Reed Conner; his beloved dog, Little Man; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service celebrating Walter’s life will be held on Saturday, April 4, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Upward Church, with the Reverend Scott Pace officiating. Family and friends are invited to gather and share their memories of a man who touched so many hearts.
