Charlotte Cordelia Hill Jackson, aged 96, born November 17, 1926, passed away on Friday, March 24, 2023 due to trauma connected with a fall.
She wed Dudley G. Jackson, Jr.on June 2, 1944 and they were blessed with 75 years together. Dudley pastored churches in Richland County, SC, and Henderson County, NC, and Charlotte supported him in those ministries for 60 years.
A Henderson County native residing near Upward, she was the daughter of Andrew Dorton Hill and Mamie Charlotte Jones Hill. She was a loving Christian wife, mother, grandmother, and friend to all who knew her. She was proud to be a descendant of the pioneers and her heritage as a generational Henderson County resident. When Dudley was serving in World War II, she supported the war effort by working in the textile industry. Her love for gardening gave her great satisfaction when she would preserve her harvest. Nothing gave her greater joy than to grow beautiful flowers to share or display in her home. Most precious were the sweet wild flower bouquets brought to her by her love, Dudley. Her favorite flowers were roses, lilies, carnations and red geraniums. An artist at cooking, she loved to prepare meals for friends and family. As a skilled seamstress she loved to quilt and construct beautiful clothing and crafts for those she loved. It gave her family great satisfaction to take her for rides to enjoy her beautiful North Carolina mountains, especially if it involved a stop at her favorite, Strawberry Hill. She studied and meditated on God’s word daily and used it as her guide in all aspects of her life. It was her mission to live a life that glorified her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Charlotte is survived by sons, Gerald (Linda), Adrian(Dianne), Robert, all of Columbia, SC; Reginald Jackson (Sue) local of Flat Rock; daughter Gloria Jackson Rigsby (Lewis) of Pensacola, Fl; and 11 grand and 19 great-grandchildren. She is predeceased by her parents, husband and son, Gladston, sister, Elsie and brothers Everette and Thomas Hill all of Henderson County.
