Daniel Sherman McCrary, 84, of Hendersonville, NC, passed away Thursday, April 02, 2026 at the Elizabeth House.
A man of unmatched grit and a massive heart, Daniel Sherman McCrary was the embodiment of the hardworking cowboy. Above all, he was a devoted husband and a pillar of support for his family.
For more than half a century, he served his community as a horse farrier, a trade that demanded the very strength and deep love for animals that defined his character. In the rodeo world, Daniel was a wise mentor who believed in the value of tough love.
Whether he was with his wife, his son, his granddaughters, or his great-grandsons, he loved with a fierce honesty. From his loyal dogs and horses to the friends and strangers he met along the way, Daniel loved hard and lived well, leaving a trail of wisdom for everyone lucky enough to cross his path.
A funeral service will be held, Tuesday, April 07, 2026 at two o’clock in the afternoon at Crab Creek Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the church.
