Rita Parris Justus, 79, of Hendersonville went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, April 5, 2023 surrounded by her loving family. A native of Henderson County, she was a daughter of the late Robert and Birdell Rhodes Parris. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Nathan, Grady, Clarence, Donald, Fred, Hugh “Tig,” Ray, and Walter Parris; sisters, Melba Parris Gordon, Iris Parris Pack, and Irene Parris Roper.
Rita was a member of Tracy Grove Baptist church and worked for the Henderson County School system as an assistant at Upward Elementary. She enjoyed home life and cooking and her love for church and family was fierce. She lived for the love of her great-grandbabies.
She is survived by her loving husband of 59 years, Bud Justus; daughter Donna Justus Brackett (Reggie), son, Wayne “Cody” Justus, sister, Evileen Parris Norwood, Bob Paris and Yvette Surrett; grandchildren, Heather Hall (Scott), Colton Brackett (Lindsey); great-grandchildren, Harper and Silas Hall, Averi and Sawyer Brackett; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
A graveside funeral service will be held at 2pm on Tuesday, April 11, 2023 at Forest Lawn Memorial Park with the Reverends James Maybin and Dan Blackwell officiating. Memorials may be made to Tracy Grove Baptist Church.
