Apr 5, 2026

Dorothy Lee Hoots, of Hendersonville, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday morning, April 5, 2026, Easter Sunday.

A native of Transylvania County, Dorothy spent most of her life in Henderson County. She was the daughter of the late Kermit and Nannie Anders Patterson and the loving wife of the late Charles Elmer Hoots, who passed away in 2023. Dorothy and Charles were united in marriage in 1959 and shared sixty-four devoted years together.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Phillip Todd Hoots.

Dorothy was a woman of deep faith and a lifelong servant of her church. She was a past member of Valley Hill Baptist Church, where she faithfully played the piano for many years, and was a current member of Mud Creek Baptist Church.

She found joy in the simple pleasures of life. Dorothy was an avid reader, a talented gardener who grew beautiful flowers, and above all, she had a special love for caring for animals.

Those left to cherish her memory include her son, Charles Geffrey Hoots; her grandchildren, Cristina Hoots-Vazquez Raley (William) and Ethan Hoots-Vazquez, her beloved cat, Fred; along with many friends and extended family who will miss her dearly.

A funeral service will be held at two o’clock in the afternoon on Wednesday, April 8, 2026, at Mud Creek Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Shepherd Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Blue Ridge Humane Society, 88 Centipede Lane, Hendersonville, NC 28792.

Dorothy will be remembered for her gentle spirit, her servant’s heart, and the love she shared with all who knew her.

Condolences may be sent to the Hoots family at www.jacksonfuneralservice.com or C/O Jackson Funeral Service 1101 Greenville Highway, Hendersonville, NC 28792. Please include the name of the deceased on the condolence.
