Donald Andrew Painter of Hendersonville, NC went to be with his Lord
and Savior on Easter Sunday, April 9, 2023, at the age of 86. He was
preceded in death by his parents, Charlie Painter and Irene Byers
Painter, and by his brothers, Carroll and Al Painter, and is survived
by his wife of 64 years, Patricia Fletcher Painter of Etowah. Don was
a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend to all who knew
him. Also surviving are sons Craig Andrew Painter, Donald Michael
Painter (Shannon), and Daniel Patrick Painter, as well as his
grandchildren Josh, Cameron (Catherine), Sydney, MacKenzie, Graham,
Hayes, Adam, and Alexander.
Don was from the Valley Hill area of Hendersonville, having graduated
from Hendersonville High School in 1954. He attended NC State
University and Mars Hill College. Don was a member at Valley Hill
Baptist Church for many years, where he taught Sunday School and youth
programs. In 1980, the family moved membership to First Baptist Church
in Hendersonville. Don retired from Combined Insurance of America,
where he was employed for 51 years. Don was a member of the Sons of
the American Revolution, and a long-standing member of Hendersonville
Country Club. Known by many for his love of golf, Don was also
dedicated to his family and his passing has left a hole in their
hearts.
The family will receive friends at 10:00 am on April 22, 2023, in the
chapel at First Baptist Church in Hendersonville, followed by a
memorial service at 11:00 am, officiated by Pastor Steve Scoggins.
