Thomas Lebby Smyth, 79, of Flat Rock, North Carolina, passed away Thursday, April 9, 2026, at Elizabeth House.

Thomas was the son of the late Moultrie Hutchinson Smyth and Marie Mangum Justus Smyth. He was the devoted husband of 32½ years to Kathryn Schamp Smyth.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Robert R. Smyth, and two brothers, William Smyth and Joe Smyth.

Thomas was a proud United States Marine Corps veteran. He spent much of his career as a produce broker, getting his start with Thomas Brothers Produce. A man of strong faith, he was a devoted Christian who cherished his family above all else, especially the time he spent with his grandchildren.

Left to cherish his memory, in addition to his wife, are three sons: John Smyth of Naples, Florida; Scott Scamehorn (Donna) of Winter Haven, Florida; and Ryan Scamehorn (Megan) of Inman, South Carolina; one daughter, Ashley Bykowski (Brandon) of South Carolina; eight grandchildren; one sister, Ellane Smyth of Flat Rock, North Carolina; as well as several nieces, nephews, and a host of dear friends.

In accordance with his wishes, no services will be held.
