The Henderson County Sheriff’s Office will host a drive by visitation to honor the memory of Lieutenant Terry “Elvi” Foster. This visitation will take place on Thursday, April 16, from 6 P.M. until 730 P.M. The Henderson County Sheriff’s Office Honor Guard will stand watch over Lt. Foster and his family as he lies in state in front of the sheriff’s office located at 100 N. Grove St. in Hendersonville. The public, emergency services, and other officials will be able to pay their respects by traveling south on Grove Street from any point above Fourth Avenue in Hendersonville. Those attending will be able to view Lt. Foster’s casket and his family as they pass by. The Henderson County Sheriff’s Office respectfully asks that anyone participating in this visitation burn their headlights and activate their flashers as they pass by in remembrance of Lt. Foster. While stopping briefly to pay your respects is certainly allowed, we also ask that you refrain from parking along the route or approaching the family at this time.
This visitation will be followed by a small, private memorial service for the family only, however, the Sheriff’s Office will livestream the visitation and and service. The public will be able to view both events by going to the Henderson County Sheriff’s Office Facebook Page or viewing the Henderson County Sheriff’s Office YouTube Channel. Terry “Elvi” Foster, 57, of Flat Rock, NC went to be with the Lord on Friday, April 10, 2020.
He was raised in Edneyville, NC and graduated from Edneyville High School. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ab and Dorothy Laughter Foster and a sister, Barbara Foster.
He served in the US Army as a gunner in the field artillery. He retired as Lieutenant from the Henderson County Sheriff’s Office after over 30 years of service. He had also worked part time at the Polk County Sheriff’s Office for a brief period and remained active serving the Henderson County Sheriff’s office on a part time basis until his death. Elvi also served the county as a long time member of the Edneyville Fire and Rescue and later Dana Fire and Rescue.
He attended Main Street Baptist Church. He was competitive, enjoyed playing softball, NASCAR and NHRA racing but most of all he loved his family.
He is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Arline Noxon Foster and daughter, Ashley Foster and her husband Shane Foster and their children, Jenna and Landon all of Hendersonville. He is also survived by his loving parents William and Susan Noxon of Boiling Springs, SC.
