Ann Marie Foley, 75, of Flat Rock, NC, passed away on Monday April 13th, 2026 in a house fire.
She was born on December 14, 1950 and raised by Alice and Vincent White of Peabody MA with her older brother Paul White. Ann studied History at Rivier University and went on to work as a Textile Curator at the Wenham Museum before working as a Special Education professional for the Montgomery County, MD and Gloucester, MA school systems. Her love of beauty could be seen in the gardens that she created wherever she lived and the unique collection of antiques placed thoughtfully in her house. Ann was a gifted seamstress, crafter, cook and organizer. She was a truly loyal friend to many and had never met a stranger.
On August 20th of 1972, Ann married Michael Stephen Foley, and together they spent 53 years of marriage. After raising their family in Beverly, MA, Ann and Mike moved to Olney, MD and then Gloucester, MA. They retired in the late teens to Hendersonville, North Carolina where they enjoyed driving through the Smokey Mountains, watching the birds and white squirrels that could be seen from their covered porch. Ann spent time working on her beloved jigsaw puzzles and being skeptical of everything on TV. “I don’t know about that”.
Ann is survived by her husband Mike Foley; son Brian Foley; daughter Colleen Baker; brother Paul White; and her beloved grandchildren Benjamin and Anna Foley.
In lieu of a formal funeral arrangement the family request that you take a moment to remember Ann and appreciate the song birds and blooming spring flowers. Donations in Ann’s memory can be made to the Valley Hill Fire & Rescue 1675 Willow Rd. Hendersonville, NC 28739. VHFD.com
