Robert Jackson “Jack” Hughey, “The man, the myth, the legend” went home to the lord on Wednesday, April 14,2021.
A native of Hendersonville/Penrose, he was a very treasured member of his family who will miss him very dearly. Born in August 1933 in Piedmont SC to the late Willie Mae Hughey and Bobby Hughey, Jack was a go getter and an all-around one of a kind man. He was a caretaker, a friend to all and was a master tinker. There was nothing he couldn’t do.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Willie Mae & Bobby Hughey; his brother, Sammy; Sister, Jean and late wife, Margaret Hughey.
Jack is survived by his loving wife of ten years, Martha Matthews of Hendersonville; his son, Steve Hughey and wife Linda of Boiling Springs SC; daughter, Sharon Jarrard and husband David of Gulfport Mississippi; son-in-law, Scott Matthews of Hendersonville and wife Greta; daughter-in-law, Kathy Cantrell and husband Tim of Hendersonville; his brothers and sisters, Peggy, Patsy, Ray, Keith, Billy, Becky, and Shirley (Arley). He is also survived by many, many grand and great grandchildren who loved him dearly adored and whom he adored.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00pm Sunday April 18, 2021 in The Chapel in The Pines at Jackson Funeral Service 1101 Greenville Hwy Hendersonville, NC
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Little River Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 51 Little River Baptist Church Rd. Penrose, N.C. 28766.
