Dwayne Lee Ashenfelder, 62, of Hendersonville, passed away Sunday May 04, 2025 at the Elizabeth House.

Dwayne Ashenfelder, August 20, 1962: A beloved husband, father, grandfather, son, brother,
and friend, Dwayne passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of craftsmanship, music,
and unwavering faith. A master blacksmith and gunsmith, Dwayne forged more than just iron
and steel; he forged lives. He was also a gifted musician and had a deep love for the Lord.
Born to David and Carol Ashenfelder, Dwayne grew up with a strong sense of integrity, hard
work, and devotion to God, values he lived out each day. He was a devoted husband to Cheryl
Ashenfelder, his lifelong partner and greatest blessing. Together, they raised four children:
Dustin Ashenfelder, Lauren Shelton (Chad), Kailie Schwerin (Charlie), and Micah Ashenfelder.
Dwayne’s joy multiplied in his role as “Pop” to his cherished grandchildren: Crew, Braxton,
Mailie, and Lytton. He found delight in their laughter, wonder, and curiosity, and was always
eager to pass on a story, a skill.

He is survived by his wife, children, and grandchildren. His Mother, Carol Luttrell (Bob), his
siblings, David, Cindy, Dean (Lori), Christine (Christophor), and many nieces and nephews. His
Father, David Ashenfelder, and his Nephew, Dean “DJ” Allen Ashenfelder, predeceased him.
His Christian faith was the foundation of his life. Dwayne loved the Lord with all his heart, and
that love guided everything he did, from his craftsmanship and music to the way he served his
family and community with quiet strength and humility. He will be remembered for his kind spirit, creative hands, deep wisdom, and unwavering faith. His legacy lives on in the lives he touched and the family he so dearly loved.

A service celebrating Dwayne’s life will be held at Biltmore Church’s Hendersonville Campus
