Randy Michael Simpson was born on December 16, 1943, to William Glenn and Mary Katherine Simpson.

Randy spent his childhood in Hendersonville, North Carolina.  After graduating from East Hendersonville High School in 1962, he went on to complete his BS degree in Chemistry at Western Carolina University.  In June 1966 Randy began his career with the United States Department of Agriculture working in the Food Safety and Inspection Service and dedicated over 30 years to making our food safe.  During Randy’s tenure he received several commendations for his work in developing new, more efficient testing techniques which included the use of robotics in his laboratory.  Randy’s career took him from Atlanta, GA to Beltsville, Maryland and to Athens, Georgia.  Randy always had a passion for learning and teaching others.  He taught computer classes at the Athens Vocational School for numerous years before starting his own computer training business from 2001 – 2007.   He enjoyed working with young people and began tutoring in a middle school in Monroe, GA and an elementary school in Hendersonville, NC.

Randy was always a curious individual and enjoyed researching a long list of subjects and learning how to make various products.  YouTube was his favorite TV channel to watch and learn new techniques.  Randy had many hobbies including camping, hiking, motorcycling, sailing, hang gliding, gardening, making jewelry and leather goods.

Randy is survived by his beloved wife, Frankee; son Gregory (Nicole); daughter Kimberly  (Jack); stepson Al (Cheyenne); his faithful companions Sophie and Maggie; brother Steve; sister Patricia; nephews; nieces; and other beloved family members and friends.  Randy and Frankee shared the joy and love of 7 grandchildren, Angela (Riley), Danielle (Nathaniel), Sarah (Brandon), Taylor, Rebecca, Nickolas (Olivia) and Ellis.  They also shared the joy and love of 2 great-grandchildren, Tyler Jameson and Leah Lynn.
