Ralph Vincent Barger

Ralph Vincent Barger passed away unexpectedly on May 13, 2025 at age of 86, in Asheville, NC. Ralph was born on October 11, 1938 in Piqua, Ohio. Pre-deceased by his wife, Janny Barger; granddaughter, Jennifer Marshall Hubble; siblings, Carl Barger and Bonnie McCarthy; and brother-in-law, Johnny Lampman.
He is survived by his daughter, Ide (Daryl) Marshall; granddaughters, Samantha Marshall Ashley (Quintin), Christina Green (Allen); grandson, George Marshall (Rebecca); and grandchildren, Crystal, Emily, Jazzy, Leah, Landon, Rachel, Lindsey and Hunter; along with his beloved doggie, Mr. Wil, and the many friends made throughout his many moves and career.
Ralph and his wife Janny had lived many years in Milford, New Hampshire, prior to moving to Canandaigua.
In 1958, Ralph joined the Air Force as an Air Operation Specialist serving until 1965. Then in 1965, he re-enlisted and joined the Army and served until his retirement in 1978. While in the Army he served two tours in Vietnam, retiring as an Army Counter Intelligence Agent.
After a few years in the private sector, Ralph started a 2nd government career working for the Department of Defense in the Defense Investigative Service department in 1982. He retired in 2008 as an Industrial Security Specialist from the Department of Defense. Throughout his career serving his country, Ralph was awarded many medals of commendations recognizing his honors and achievements.
The family is planning a memorial celebration at a later date, to be announced.
