Born on May 18, 1940, in Hendersonville, Jack was the son of Plato and Edna Pittillo. He was raised in Edneyville on the family farm, where his parents made their living cultivating a wide variety of crops on their mountain land.
Jack proudly served his country in the United States Navy. During his service, he worked on the flight deck of the USS Essex and later provided security at Guantanamo Bay. He was recognized for his service during the Cuban Missile Crisis.
Following his military service, Jack worked for nearly 30 years at Berkeley Mills. After retirement, he returned to his roots and spent the remainder of his life farming cattle in Edneyville.
In his later years, Jack especially enjoyed drinking coffee each day with his son whenever he was home, with conversations often centered on the weather and life on the farm.
Jack was one of five children. He was preceded in death by his brother, Patrick Pittillo, who died during the Korean War; his brother, Harry Pittillo; and his son, Robb Pittillo.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of the Charles George VA Medical Center for their care and compassion.
Jackson Funeral Service is honored to serve the Pittillo family.
