Daryl “Jean” Hicks Fowler, age 72, of Hendersonville, NC passed away at Pardee Hospital peacefully and surrounded by her family on May 23, 2019.
She was born in Kingsport, Tennessee, the daughter of the late Rollin and Axie Hicks. She met her sweetheart, Dan, at the Woolworth Lunch Counter, married in 1967 and later relocated to Hollywood, Florida in 1970. Jean was a member of Sheridan Hills Baptist Church where she sang in the choir, and served as Church Hostess for many years. The family moved to Hendersonville, NC in 1985. She was the owner of Intowne Workroom where she created custom draperies until her retirement in 2010. She was a faithful member of First Baptist Church Hendersonville. She sang in the church choir and as she got older, rocked babies in the nursery. She enjoyed studying the Bible, working in her garden, and loving on her grandchildren.
She is survived by her loving husband of 52 years, Dan Fowler, a daughter, Angie Fowler Reid and husband Ronnie of Hendersonville, and daughter, Wendi Fowler Carter and husband John of Johnson City, TN, her sister, Valda Hicks Jones of Johnson City, TN, and niece Lauren Jones of San Diego, CA, 3 grandchildren, Meghan and Daniel Reid, and Jack Carter.
A celebration of life service will be held at 4:00 pm, Sunday June 9th at First Baptist Church Hendersonville located at 312 5th Ave West, Hendersonville, NC 28739. The family will receive friends following the service in the Church Fellowship Hall.
