Edward J. Teck, Sr. (Ed), 79, of Hendersonville passed away May 31, 2021 at Willow Ridge
Rehabilitation & Living Center in Rutherfordton, NC from complications of Parkinson’s disease.
Ed was born in Beaver Falls, PA to the late John E. Teck and Helen A. Teck . After graduating
from Lincoln High School in Ellwood City, PA he made his way to California working for Fairchild
Ariel Surveying and then to Alaska where he helped map the Standard Oil Pipeline. While in Alaska he
experienced the magnitude 9.2 earthquake that struck the area in 1964. His work and travels brought
him to Evansville, IN where he met and married his wife Jeannie in 1965. Ed began his career in tool
and die plastics manufacturing working for Moll Tool & Plastics in Evansville. He went on to work for
General Electric, IBM and the Kenner Toy company where he made the first Star Wars action figures.
He retired from IBM in 1997.
After retirement Ed enjoyed visiting with friends and family, attending church services, bible studies
and prayer groups. Watching reality adventure television programs was a favorite activity of his. Ed
was a lifelong Pittsburgh Steelers fan and took great delight in watching them play.
Ed is survived by his wife Jeannie C. Teck, son Edward Teck, Jr. and wife Paula, daughter Kathy
Schwartz and husband Douglas and their sons Alex Schwartz and Nick Schwartz and his wife
Madeline, a sister, Frederica Kochman and husband David, and nieces Cecilia Ann Powers and
husband Scott, Mary Margaret Eaton and husband Bob and her children.
A Memorial Service will be held on June 26, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church of
Hendersonville, NC with Reverend Steve Scoggins officiating.
